Questions?

01. Who we are

Desi Recipe is a professional chef training portal offering culinary programs, cuisine certificates, weekend skill labs and one-to-one chef mentorship. In this policy, “Desi Recipe”, “we”, “us” and “our” refer to the business that operates desirecipe.com and our training kitchens. Our contact details are listed on our Contact page.

02. Information we collect

We collect information you give us directly and limited information collected automatically:

  • Contact details — name, phone number, email address and postal address when you call, email, book a tour or apply.
  • Enrolment details — date of birth, photo ID copy, emergency contact, program and batch preferences, and guardian consent for learners under 18.
  • Payment information — amounts, dates and transaction references. Card and mobile-banking details are processed by the payment provider; we do not store full card numbers.
  • Training records — attendance, assessment results, mentor feedback and photographs of dishes you cook for your portfolio.
  • Health and safety information — food allergies or medical conditions you choose to tell us so we can keep you safe in the kitchen.
  • Website data — IP address, browser type, pages visited and referring site, collected through cookies and analytics.

03. How we use your information

  • To respond to enquiries and arrange kitchen tours.
  • To process applications, enrolments and payments.
  • To deliver classes, track attendance, assess progress and issue certificates.
  • To keep learners safe, including managing allergies during practical sessions.
  • To send important updates about schedules, changes and cancellations.
  • To share course news and offers, only where you have agreed to receive them.
  • To improve our website, programs and teaching.
  • To meet legal, tax and accounting obligations.

04. Legal basis for processing

We process personal information because it is necessary to provide the training you have requested, because we have a legitimate interest in running and improving our programs, because you have given consent (for example, to marketing messages or portfolio photographs), or because the law requires it.

05. Photographs and video

We sometimes photograph or film classes and plated dishes for learner portfolios, our website and social media. We will ask for your consent before publishing images in which you can be identified. You may withdraw consent at any time, and we will stop using the image in new materials.

06. Sharing your information

We do not sell or rent personal information. We share it only when necessary with:

  • Payment providers and banks that process your payments.
  • Website hosting, email and IT service providers that store data on our behalf.
  • Professional advisers such as accountants and lawyers.
  • Authorities, when we are legally required to do so.

All service providers are required to keep your information secure and use it only for the services they provide to us.

07. How long we keep information

Enquiry records are kept for up to 12 months. Enrolment, attendance and certificate records are kept for up to six years so we can verify qualifications and meet accounting requirements. Marketing preferences are kept until you unsubscribe. Data is securely deleted or anonymised when it is no longer needed.

08. How we protect information

We use password-protected systems, restricted staff access, secure hosting with encrypted connections (HTTPS) and locked storage for paper records. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your information and review our safeguards regularly.

09. Your rights

You may ask us to:

  • Tell you what personal information we hold about you and provide a copy.
  • Correct information that is inaccurate or incomplete.
  • Delete information we no longer have a reason to keep.
  • Stop or limit certain processing, including marketing.
  • Withdraw consent you have previously given.

To make a request, email contact@desirecipe.com. We will respond within 30 days and may ask you to verify your identity.

10. Children's information

Learners aged 16 and 17 may enrol with written consent from a parent or guardian. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16 through our website. If you believe a child has provided information to us, please contact us and we will delete it.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The latest version will always be available on this page with the date it was last updated. Significant changes will be communicated to enrolled learners by email.
